What is it?
The DDS80 from Numark looks and feels like a professional DJ CD player but with new media formats and devices.
It comes in two rackmount sections - One is like the traditional dual CD player transport unit, but with a CD tray on one side and a removable Hard Drive o the other.
The control section appears very similar to the CD Controllers you are probably used to, but with a colour screen in the middle.
There is a USB port on the front (for USB keys / thumb drives etc) and two USB connections on the back. So as well as the 80GB removable/upgradeable hard drive you can connect a iPod, another hard drive or any storage unit with a USB connection. Also, you can rip your music straight from CD to the hard drive.
The screen on the front shows you the music tracks on any of the storage devices connected, the tracks selected for each output And the tracks in the ''crate''. This is Numark''s clever technology that gives you the chance to pre-select the tracks you probably want to play so they are ready to go quickly.
The DDS80 has easy to use controls, Key Lock (keeps the pitch the same as you change the speed) ad other clever stuff! Beatkeeper™ seamlessly integrates your samples and loops and it has a tap-override function so you're always in control. You can play music from two devices simultaneously, including two songs from the same storage device.
You can scratch using the large jog wheels.
DDS80 ensures fast track access as a CD player, and when using the hard disk section, you can locate tunes even faster using text-search. You can easily expand and connect DDS80 to any USB music storage device using the USB ports.
What can you use this for?
Get your disco gear up-to-date!
Carry huge amounts of music without having to lug lots of big, heavy CD boxes around. Familiar controls mean you can still be a brilliant DJ rather than just the driver for the laptop.
