What is it ?
A compact 19" Mixer FlightCase with:
a sloping top with 8U of rackmount space to take a mixer or other control equipment
and below that at the front ..
2U of rackmount space to put amps, CD players or other gear
NOTE - at the front, there is 2U of rackspace, plus a 2U blanking plate above this space. That means there is a good amount of clearance for anything you have mounted in the top section above whatever you put in the botom of the case.
This is a BUDGET FlightCase, but for the money is brilliant. It will protect your gear and looks pretty good!
A quick guide to a 'U'
A 'U' is a unit of measure in the exciting world of 19" rackmounting! The rack strips are 19" apart and the measurement of rack space used is in 'U's which are 1 3/4inches or 44mm. So 2U is 88mm or 3 1/2inches. Easy once you know how! The 8U mixer space then is 352mm or 14inches.
This flightcase is made of 9mm plywood covered in black plastic vinyl. It is fixed together with aluminium extrusions, aluminium corners and rivets.
The fittings are very good for the price: Two spring-loaded, recessed handles on each side and tough butterfly catches for the removable front and the lid.
At the back is a hinged panel with a 40mm diameter hole in it. You can use this hole for cables, or just open up the panel.
What you can use this for....
PA / Bands - put your mixer in the rackmount sloping top and your amp(s) and/or effects units underneath.
DJs - the sloping top will take an MP3 controller, a mixer, a CD controller up to 8U. Then put your CD transport or Amp or whatever underneath.
This is a tough flightcase that, for the money, is pretty well built. It keeps your gear in one place, protecting it in transit and making it neater and easier to use at gigs.
